Matthias I'm curious, do you live in the United States as a German? And I would be interested in which area you work beyond this project, if that is not a secret. I am sincerely interested in your work, especially this project. I found the new sticker under "Merch" and would really like to have it as a fan of Forever ✱ notes, only it is produced in the United States and shipping to Germany is probably a bit cumbersome.

At the moment the shop only works for orders in the US, so I think you can’t even order. Not sure why it even shows up for you. But I might set up the EU version as well, then you can order the sticker for sure 👍

Hello everyone,

Having used almost all methods to take notes, I came across Forever ✱ Notes and it caught my interest. The single reason that made me try it out was that the entire framework was based on Apple Notes. I was sceptic initially and suspected that this would be another wild goose chase. I went real slow and the outcome was the ideal one for me.

I am an Event Manager & Fitness enthusiast who is interested in a productivity system and second brain to manage all of my ideas and tasks. I've tried notion, obsidian and other set-ups, but I really wanted to bring everything into the Apple ecosystem I am building and even after a few minutes of initial set-up with the homepage and tags, I'm already loving the cleaner look of my notes folder already! I'm excited to keep learning and developing the Forever✱Notes system!

Hi everyone. I’m an enthusiastic Notes user, but implementing the Forever ✱ Notes framework has revolutionised my Notes usage. I can now quickly access my most important notes, and from the ✱Home screen, I can navigate to all key areas of information. Previously, I had a cumbersome folder structure with numerous subfolders. My traditional approach led to questions like, “Do I add this note to the France, Friends, Seafood, or Restaurants folder?” My tagging system lacked a solid strategy, resulting in an excessive number of tags. Now, I’m gradually consolidating, renaming, and deleting redundant tags with a more organised structure. This process is ongoing.

I systematically eliminated folders, reviewing one at a time. I deleted unnecessary notes, combined similar notes, and reviewed tags. Only then did I move the notes to the main Notes folder. This process is still ongoing, as I still have folders to organise.

Hi everyone. I am an avid OmniFocus user who has become frustrated with the note section in the app. I like the ideas shared in the Forever ✱ Notes framework and linking OmniFocus tasks to Notes. Thank you, @Matthias for your clear, precise, and excellent work.

@Matthias This system has really help me organize my 850+ notes in my storage tank of information. How do you differentiate years with today's note? In other words we are at the end of 2024, but next year 2025, how does one enter into today's date DEC 10 2025. Or does it open the note from the prior year and you have to re-name or clear out? Maybe it's a bit granular, but I never know in the future when I need to 'spotlight' search a particular item. Thanks again for creating such a great system.

AJS_IX I think the original intent is to reuse the note every year (see screenshot below) however I have recreated the daily notes again for 2025 added the tag #y2025 this suits my needs better and creates separation between years.

Just introducing myself: Jim. I use notion for my websites but wanted something for everything else. Now that Apple Notes is getting more and more updates, I'm leaning that way. Came across ForeverNotes and liked what I saw - especially the simplicity. I tried the PARA method a while back but it just didn't seem to mesh with me. Anyway, glad there is a forum for more discussion and discovery.

I am Markus from Switzerland and using Apple Notes since a long time ago. I have tried a lot of alternatives as notes app and still came back to Apple Notes cause yeah it's already on all devices i use from Apple.

First moment i found your page with this nice framework i was happy and i am still ;-)

Actually i am still using the basic as mentioned in the documentation and implementing my notes and yeah it's working fine with links etc. Thanks for the very good work, really appreciate your effort

I found ✱ ForeverNotes about a month ago, via an article in MEDIUM.
As an old Mac user (the 3rd computer in my life, 30something years ago), I have used Apple Notes (Notizen) since they exist, but in a rather random and unorganised way. In former years, I have used mindmaps to organise thoughts and link files.
Since about one year, I am trying different notes apps, but I none really satisfied me. I sticked a while with Obsidian, but I realised that I prefer closed, well organised systems.
Now I am a rather happy ✱ Forever Notes user, and these notes are growing more and more.

Matthias Today I spent the day viewing your videos in order and playing with Apple Notes. I am using all your resources except the journal, but actively set the ✱ Home, ✱ Hubs and Collections…. My friend, you developed a GREAT system!!!!

Hello Community. My name is Eric from Germany.

I just started (re-)using Apple Notes but now with the Forever ✱ Note approach. I moved my well structured folders into an archive folder (2000+ notes) and started with a clean system. (Doubting a bit that I can live without my folder structure PARA - but we will see whether or not I will be a friend of ✱ compilations.)

The ✱ Home note and the system with Projects/Areas (Hubs) seem to be a good approach and I will give it a try. The Journaling is probably better used in Apples Journal app (just added a shortcut link to my ✱ Home note to create a daily entry into Journal app with weather data, appointments, tasks of the day - modified it from another user for German and other languages.)

I was using a lot of Note Apps (big fan of Evernote, but also used Obsidian, Agenda, NotePlan, Bears in the past).

What I recently noted - and why I moved back to Apple Notes - is the well improved EcoSystem of Apple (Reminders, Mail, Notes,…). What I missed and what is now really working well, is the interaction of those apps. E.g. selecting a sentence in an e-mail and share it to the reminders app, will create a reminder with the text and automatically add backlink to the mail itself (same if I am selecting sentence in a note or in safari and share it to Reminders).
Just to mention, canceled subscriptions for Evernote, Todoist and Spark E-mail and going back to Apple's apps.

3 things, I have to handle extra (which was much better in Todoist and Evernote):
- Bought an iOS app called Remind Faster for quick capture to Reminders (with extra features)
- Scan to Notes App was not working (which was a nice feature from Evernote), but usage of Apple Script will allow me to tap the scan-button on my ScanSnap and it will go directly to my Notes App (paperless work)
- Still using one time payment of BusyCal app with Reminders integration, where I can time block tasks into the calendar (start date and duration of a Task) … Task will be updated in Reminders

Now I will dive into the Forever ✱ Note system 😉

Topic: Suggestion for area / threads per template

We often have the same or at least similar questions in the forum and then different threads on similar note templates - mostly with Apple shortcuts. I would therefore like to suggest, @Matthias , that a forum section for note templates would be useful. For example, that there is a kind of ‘how-to’ per template - instead of multiple threads that get lost.
