Poking around on the forum, I did find something somewhere that works for my MacOS setup:
Of course, the original "Today" shortcut was broken also because of course it would be. I renamed the shortcut above to "Open Journal," and when I replace the old shortcut URL with shortcuts://run-shortcut?name=Open%20Journal then my Forever Notes setup works as expected. So I will start replacing the Today shortcuts already in my system from today's note forward. (Fortunately, I'm still new to the system so there are not a lot of shortcuts to fix but there are enough.)
But geez -- if this is going to happen every time there's a major upgrade to the OS, then I may need to find a method more robust and not as brittle as a shortcut.
Oddly, I had no issue with the Home page link. Notes displayed a list of notes for me to select, I selected the Home page, and that link has been working fine ever since. Well, ever since this morning.
