I’ve been using the Journal app on and off since it was released about 1½ years ago, but I never managed to stick with it daily – mainly because it was limited to the iPhone. Now that it's finally coming to macOS and iPadOS, it’s definitely more tempting… but after discovering the F✱N system, I wouldn’t go back.
Using F✱N as a journal just makes more sense for me. I’ve set up a Shortcut that pulls in the day’s weather, calendar events, and reminders directly into my daily note. In the calendar section, the Shortcut even checks if it’s someone’s birthday – if so, it adds a little 🇩🇰 after their name (I’m Danish 😊). If there are no events or reminders, it simply adds “No events” or “No tasks”.
It’s also easier to look back at previous entries, and I love having monthly, quarterly, and yearly pages to track goals, reflections, and anything else I want to revisit.

I’ll just add that throughout the day, I often update the “Tasks” section in my daily note with small things I need to remember – and I check them off as I go. Maybe it’s as much about acknowledging what I have done as it is about remembering what I need to do. A little pat on the back to myself. 😉
