shortcut error for creating journal notes

the shortcut asks me to choose tags every-time when it makes a note

and if i cancel the tag choosing , the note making process just stops

is this normal?

I only know the shortcut to create the entire journal for a year once. And there are no tags included as far as I recall. Can you perhaps specify what you mean? Possibly with screenshots?

Thanks for the details. I have tried to reproduce this -unsuccesfully. The shortcut in question "Create ✱ Journal Notes in Apple Notes" from the homepage gives me the same disclaimer, but only once as intended -no repeatedly questioning tags either. The shortcut script is logically and "clean" -thus, to your initial question, the behaviour is not normal.

YAY It's not your phone's problem. I have the same on my Mac. Each time Shortcuts tries to create a #forevernotes tag it asks for a permission to do so. I think there was an apple software update that changed the workflow. I selected the #forevernotes tag 365+ times and it worked.) It took me 5 mins)

I'm not sure why it should be the problem of a single iPhone. Perhaps such shortcuts are subject to any "content bulk create restrictions" in the country/ region in which you use the iPhone. If you let someone from your environment try out the shortcut as well, you may know more.

Here is the fix

I had the same issue and stopped somewhere in October as I was expecting to push for another 370+ times :-). I wrote an email to Matthias, but given I cannot wait I also came here to the forum where I realized I am not the only one…

…and when I saw the screenshot I figured out what the problem is:

we both already have a #ForeverNotes Tag.

Solution: go to your Tags. Search for the #ForeverNotes tag and just rename it to – e.g., #ForeverNotes1

After that, the macro will run seamlessly

again afterwards, you can still come back and rename your #ForeverNotes1 back to #ForeverNotes
